JR XP8103

The time has come to trade-up my entry level radio for a little more advanced one. Hell, why not just go all-out and buy a radio that I won't have to upgrade for a long time. Radios are not like Computers, they don't need to be faster or have more memory and they don't need to be upgraded every 6 months. But they do need more channels. I think 8 channels is more than I'll ever need and with a 10 model memory I'll be flying with this radio for a VERY long time. And with the support for PCM and Digital Servos. I don't think I'll ever need another one. The JR XP8103 comes with full support for Airplanes, Helicopters and Gliders. I don't think I'll ever be flying gliders but Helis is something I'll definitely be getting into in the beginning of 2004. The XP8103 comes with a big matrix LCD screen gives visual feedback on all mission critical function, it even has a count-down timer to let you know when you're just about out of fuel. With 3 pots I can easily mount cameras on my planes and even pan and tilt them from the ground.

I got a great deal on this radio because I traded in my previous one. And since I only need the transmitter. I didn't have to pay for the extra crystals, servos, receiver, battery or charger.

The JR XP8103 is packed with tons of features:
  • 10-model memory
  • Model reset
  • Dual Pulse Code Modulation (S-PCM, Z-PCM, FM)
  • Data transfer capabilities
  • Compatible with JR's DataSafe PC Interface
  • Dual rate on aileron, elevator and rudder w/graphic display
  • Exponential on aileron, elevator and rudder w/graphic display
  • Reversing on all 8 channels
  • Travel adjust on all 8 channels
  • Fail-safe, PCM modes only
  • Trainer function with assignable channels to be transferred to the trainee
  • Servo positions graphically depicted on LCD Screen
  • Heli 5-point curve adjustment!!

The JR XP8103 is only second to the top-of-the-line JR X10. The problem with X10 is that there is one model for each type of plane so flying a Heli with the Air version of the X10 is not the same.
